Does Garcinia Cambogia Work?

Garcinia cambogia is one of the most potent weight-loss supplement these days. It does work indeed by decreasing fat storage in your body as well as decreasing your appetite. It also decreases the amount of fat absorbed from gastro-intestinal tract that you take in as daily diet. Ever wonder how could someone lose weight so easily with just taking a natural plant in diet? Well it does do so but with a lot of side effects.

Does Garcinia Cambogia Actually Work?

Now the question in your mind is that many of things you read about diet online or in magazines or from friends don’t actually work or they do work on some but doesn’t work on others.

But Garcinia Cambogia is one of the few weight-loss supplements that works on almost everyone.

Several researchers found out that Garcinia works well on both animals and humans. According to some studies in rats, it can inhibit a fat producing enzyme called Citrate Lyase, making it more difficult for the body to produce fat out of carbohydrates. Other studies show increased levels of the neurotransmitter serotonin. This could theoretically lead to reduced appetite and cravings.

2005 study in the journal Food and Chemical Toxicology: Researchers tested a high dose of garcinia cambogia extract on obese male rats. The good news? The rats lost weight! The bad news? Extremely high doses seemed to cause testicular atrophy and toxicity.

We certainly appreciate that it is a natural fruit extract, but we definitely feel questionable about recommending this one. For those interested in cutting excess body fat and slimming down fast, we suggest going with a weight-loss supplement that’s backed by real clinical studies, not fad ingredients, and does not cause harmful side effects.

A Look at Some Human Studies.

Fortunately, there were some human studies on effect of Garcinia Combogia.
The biggest of the studies included 135 overweight individuals, which were split into two groups:

  • Treatment group:1 gram of Garcinia Cambogia Extract, 3 times per day, taken 30 minutes before meals.
  • Non-Treatment Group: This group of individuals took no supplements but remained on high-fiber and low-calorie diet.

The group taking Garcinia Cambogia extract actually lost more weight (4.1 kg – 9 pounds) than the non-treatment group (4 pounds).

A Garcinia cambogia review published in the Journal of Obesity in 2011 that looked at 12 clinical trials found that Garcinia Cambogia can increase weight loss by about 0.88 kg, or 2 pounds, on average, over a period of several weeks.

Garcinia extracts/HCA can cause short-term weight loss. The magnitude of the effect is small, and the clinical relevance is uncertain.

It may cause a mild effect in some people, but overall the effects are small and unlikely to make a major difference.
The best way to get a maximum effect with taking in Garcinia Cambogia supplements is by keeping yourself on a low-fat diet and exercise. Garcinia works best as a far-burner and helps you with great weight-loss if you use it in accordance with a perfect diet plan. We would suggest using garcinia but on a short-term scale.
